這裡彙整了參與「覺性公益平台」、「百億藥師陀羅尼行動」、「藥師法門」及「和平地球計畫」時常見的問題, 協助您更清楚理解如何持誦、祈願、上報與共修的要點。
I. Recitation and Conversion
How many times does one recitation count? How should the number of times be converted?
The basic calculation method is:1 time = 1 recitation of the Long Mantra of the Medicine Buddha。
If you choose to practice in other ways, you may use the following Dharma realm equivalent conversion:
- The Medicine Master's Mantra 1 recitation = 1 recitation
- Short Mantra of the Medicine Buddha 4 times = 1 time
- Chanting “Namo Bhagavate Bhaisajyaguru Vaisravana Tathagata” 8 times = 1 time (Buddha's name is approximately 16 characters: 16:1)
- Reciting the Sutra of the Original Vows and Merits of the Medicine Buddha 1 time = 80 recitations
- Copying the Medicine Buddha Sutra by hand once = 2,000 times
- Copying the Medicine Buddha Sutra once with a brush pen = 10,000 times
If using the YouTube chanting audio file, each playback cycle is approximately equivalent to 67 times。
It is recommended to focus on sincerity and concentration rather than speed; each pure recitation is a complete and perfect act of merit.
What should I do if I mispronounce or interrupt?
If you accidentally mispronounce a word or become distracted, simply refocus your attention—there is no need to restart the count.
The essence of the Medicine Buddha practice lies in sincere aspiration and reverence, not in perfect recitation. Through persistent and earnest chanting, merit remains undiminished.
II. Methods of Practice
What is the best time to recite?
Morning and night are the most tranquil times, particularly suitable for recitation.
But it can be recited at any time, provided the environment is quiet and the mind is focused.

If you wish, you may offer flowers, water, or incense before the Buddha to express your reverence.
III. Merit and Dedication
Can one pray for others or dedicate merits to them?
Certainly. After reciting, you may dedicate the merits to family members, friends, the sick, the deceased, or all sentient beings.
When dedicating merits, one may mentally recite: “May the merits gained from this recitation benefit all sentient beings, bringing them physical and mental well-being, freedom from suffering, and attainment of happiness.”
Can one set specific intentions when reciting?
Certainly. Before reciting, you may first make a vow, such as praying for peace of mind and body, the health of your family, the elimination of karmic obstacles, or the growth of wisdom. The purer and more resolute your vow, the deeper and more extensive the response will be.

Is there a specified number of times required to achieve the “10 Billion Project” goal?
